Creator John Cotton’s Sketches of Birds of Port Phillip 1844-1847
Date 1847
John Cotton (1801-1849) died before his dream of publishing a great book of the ornithology of Melbourne and Victoria could be realised. His art work and scientific notes bear witness to a country teeming with bird life, and distinguish Cotton as one of Australia's finest colonial natural history artists.
